Our Mission
To share God’s love by serving and uplifting students, families, and individuals in Salem, VA, and surrounding communities by providing essential resources, promoting health, and fostering a compassionate and supportive environment where all can thrive.
Children’s Feeding Programs
Salem Area Ministries supports student-led food pantries, school gardens, weekend and holiday meals, and summer grocery gift cards across multiple schools in Salem and Roanoke County, providing healthy, student-choice foods to over 200 students and families each week.
Clothing Ministry
Our Clothes Closet ministry, named after its founder, Mrs. Dorsey, is a volunteer-staffed program that provides free clothing and shoes without requiring referrals—offering compassionate support to individuals and families facing a variety of challenging life circumstances.
Other Student Assistance
We additionally support students in need by providing funding for age-appropriate books, personal hygiene packets, and essential school supplies such as rulers, pencils, and notebooks.
